My 25 year old son, who has been unemployed for the past 9 months and has no credit cards was targeted for 60K offer of the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard today.  I recently cancelled my card when the annual fee came due.  My husband still has his.  We only got the 50K offer.  I looked to see if anyone could access this offer, but from comments I’ve heard on other sites, it seems it’s only available to targeted members and quite a few of the targeted people are young with no credit.  My son currently has 7100 AA miles so this would add another 63000 to that for a total of 70000 miles.  Not bad for a $3000 minimum spend over 3 months with no annual fee the first year.

Years ago this card came with 75-100K offers but in the last few years, 50K is all we’ve seen.

I think this is a great offer for anyone looking to get some AA miles.

After meeting the minimum spend of $3,000 in 3 months you would have at least 63,000 miles which could get you two round trip tickets in coach to anywhere in the states,  1-2 round trip coach tickets to the Caribbean, Mexico or Central America in coach (depending on if you use off peak awards),  or one ticket to Hawaii, Europe, Japan, or South America in coach.

I’m thinking about having him do it and helping him with the spend.  I’m just not sure yet….
