I was very sad to leave Phi Phi and the beach today!
It is so beautiful!
I would go back in a heartbeat given the opportunity!
At least I got to say goodbye to Mr. fluffy long tail this morning after breakfast.
I walked the beach one last time and snapped a few more pics before boarding the tractor to the long tail to the ferry.
Somewhere along the way my water bottle fell out of my pack. Now I’m waterless. Apparently I need to do a better job making sure I have all my crap before I exit vehicles! The water bottle sleeves on my Gregory pack are elastic so they tend to “pop” things out that you put in there. Not the best design.
I’m really glad we did the backpack thing though. We had to get out of the long tail boat and wade about 100 feet through the water to the beach to cross over to the ferry pier.
I can’t imagine how we would’ve done that with suitcases.
This ferry has AC at least!
Check out how they store the luggage… More backpacks than suitcases!
The view of the mountains as we pulled into Krabi really had me wishing we could stay here for a few days longer!
After being swarmed by taxi drivers as we came out of the port, we made our way to our hotel for tonight – Nattha Waree Hot Springs Resort.
I love hot springs so this was a no brainer. I used a $50 Orbitz voucher from my rental car screw up on Roatan last March so the total cost for this hotel out of pocket was $26.12.
We are a late lunch shortly after we arrived. It was 97 degrees out today so rather than go out in the heat of the day, we decided to take a nap. Naps are great! Around 4:30 pm we headed to the pools. We thought maybe we were the only ones here as it was so quiet and we literally saw no one else. We had the pool and hot springs to ourselves for the first hour or so. Then the noisy Russians showed up!
The hot springs range from 39-51 degrees Celsius which is 102 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit! Holy heat stroke Batman! We opted for the ‘coldest’ one which was 39/102! Perfect!
The grounds here are really beautiful.
With wonderful sweet smelling Jasmine flowers throughout the property.
There are two swimming pools here. One is cooler than the other. The warmer one was just heavenly! We think it was around 86 degrees. I’ve never enjoyed a pool so much before!
They even had a fish spa!
Jerry had gone back to the room and I was still swimming around, then hopping in the hot spring, then back into the pool again etc. I felt like a little kid again! I really had to force myself to get out!
We had mango shakes and shared BBQ chicken kabobs for dinner at the hotel restaurant. I’m really ready to move on to some different types of food. I came in to this trip not being a big fan of Thai food and I’m leaving it feeling the same way. Other than the fresh fruit that tastes so sweet and awesome, I can’t say anything we ate here was super tasty.
We’ve truly enjoyed the wonderful experiences we’ve had in Thailand! It’s a beautiful country with very friendly people. There are so many different things to do in a wide variety of climates and terrains and it is so affordable!
On to Cambodia next!
