For our trip to Thailand we are only taking a 30L backpack and a daypack. This is a 3 week trip. We’ve really had to scrutinize what we are going to pack. What is absolutely necessary? What can we buy there? Do we really need that? And most importantly….let’s leave some room to bring home some souveniers!
Most people tend to overpack when they go on a trip. I, too, am guilty of that – usually coming home with things I never even wore or used. Even though underwear do not take up as much space as other things like pants and shirts, I couldn’t help but buy a few pairs of these nifty drawers for our upcoming trip. And yes, I’ve tried them out already and I do love them!
The idea is that you can get away with one (or maybe two) pairs of undies for a 6 week trip. How, you ask? You wash them in the sink each night. It takes only an hour or two for them to dry. Take two pairs and wash one each night while you’re wearing the other. And walla! You’ll never run out of clean undies during your travels! For this task, we have purchased a travel sized (3 oz. TSA approved) concentrated laundry detergent from REI. Another nifty trick is to use a ziplock bag as a makeshift “washing machine” rather than the sink.
